Life Stages – Adult Issues
More often than not, the adult population seems to be forgotten
when it comes to programs and services to help them deal with living
with a facial difference. For many adults, their issues and situations
can be as simple as meeting new people or more complex as treatment
decisions, overcoming social fears, independence and personal relationships.
This can often lead to withdrawal and isolation. Through our new
adult workshop series: You, Beyond the Difference,
information and networking programs, AboutFace encourages and empowers
adults with facial differences to deal with their daily challenges
and turn them into opportunities. Everyone has something to offer,
but it is up to the individual to take control of their situation
and create a life experience that honours their values and beliefs.
In this section, we have collected a series of articles and personal
stories to encourage and empower adults with differences.
