Community Representative Program

AboutFace Community Volunteers are individuals who are dedicated to helping us spread the word when it comes to AboutFace and our programs and services. Each large city needs at least two Community Representatives, who can commit to 12 hours of volunteer work per month on behalf of AboutFace. These volunteers are our local representatives who promote community outreach, build public awareness and foster relationships.

Some of the work that AboutFace Community Reps become involved with include: our “Tea Time” parent gatherings, passing out information to doctors offices, schools, dentists and/or hospitals, school presentations, representing AboutFace at a workshop or conference, supporting new parents with a personal visit after the birth of a baby, getting involved in creating a “Family Day” or hosting a special event in your community.

AboutFace provides training and support to our Community Representatives.  We work with you to discuss and implement a plan that will work best in your location.  Together, we deliver awareness and support across Canada to adults and families living with facial disfigurements.
